The proud dad of Busker Shadyhill.

I got him when I was at the Buskers Festival in Halifax in 1995. At april 30 he would be 14 years old...

Today 12 of march just a month before, I'm writting as I leave for the vet to end his life. He has an autoimmune problem for over 4 month as in his last proud days as a warm loveble dog i took the decision to end it this morning...

I want to thank you for an amazing 14 years with not even one problem and a true companion.

He was the symbol of the buskers festival in halifax.....

It is with a sad heart that we said good bye to our beloved friend, Cocoa. He was a cherished member of our family for 14 years and we couldn't have asked for a better friend. We wanted to thank you for providing him to us. His passing has left a huge hole in our lives and will be greatly missed by all of us.

Loving memory of Shadyhill’s Kalifornia Sunshine (Kallie)

April 27, 2001 to April 22, 2013

In June of 2001, the most amazing little dog came in to our lives, our beautiful little cocker spaniel. Her journey from Nova Scotia was traumatic for her and she never fully recovered from the flight. She cowered in the back of the crate that day while her two travelling companions joyfully jumped out and in to the arms of their new adoptive parents. With a little coaxing she finally made her way out and in to the eager arms of my daughter and I. Waiting for her at home were her adoptive Dad and brother. Oh what joy she brought in to our lives! She had the prettiest little face you could ever imagine and her markings around her bum (she was tri colour, black, white and tan) earned her the name of ‘deer bum’. Life was great until one terrible day in October of 2010 when she slipped on the back patio and injured one of her back legs. ‘Don’t worry Mom’ she said. ‘I still have three other good legs and I’ll manage to get around’ and with that she fought through the pain. Never one to be kept down, she tried to jump up on the sofa only two weeks later and injured the other back paw. ‘Well, now I’ve done it’ she said. ‘I guess this means I’m going to have to take it easy for a bit but I’m still young, only 9 years old, so I’ll be fine’. And fine she was. Her vet was amazed at how well she adapted to blowing out the ACLs in her hind paws and with no surgical intervention, managed to get around quite well. But mother nature wasn’t finished with throwing curve balls her way and her immune system started to attack her little body. Bit by bit, things started going wrong. First it was a terrible outbreak around her mouth. Then it was a skin irritation but she fought through both of that. At the end of September last year, we went on a vacation and she was cared for at home by her loving Uncle and Aunt. All was well or so it seemed and we returned after a week. Little did we know that she had been suffering in silence during our absence and within twenty-four hours of our return she finally said ‘OK. You guys are home so now I can tell you just how sick I am. You will know what to do’. Off to the vet we went, thinking this time for sure we would lose her. She had gone in to almost complete liver failure. After forty-eight hours in the hospital under the loving care of Dr. Asenso and his team, she rebounded and walked out to greet us when we went to take her home. Within a few months we realized that sadly her immune system was continuing to attack her body and no amount of medication was going to slow it down. She finally got to the point where she said to me ‘Mom, I know you and Dad love me but I’ve had enough of the pills and the liquid medications. It is time for me to go now and I want you to help me go to sleep. I love you both and have many, many fond memories of you. I’ll just go and have a rest until you and Dad come to get me again. I’ll be fine but please, I need to go’. So, with heavy hearts we granted her wish and put an end to her suffering. She closed her little eyes and drew her last breath in the loving arms of her Mom & Dad. Rest well our little doll. You have suffered through so much these last few months and to keep you with us any longer was so unfair to you. You will always be in our hearts and in our minds until we meet again.

I wanted to let you know that our sweet boy went with the angels tonight.
He was such a brave boy throughout his illness and tonight. He went
peacefully looking into the eyes of his greatest admirers. His love was a
blessing that we will carry with us like the rays of the sun warming our
hearts. Susan

Sammi

sammi~0.jpg

Shadyhill's A Party of Four CDX TT TDI CGC39 viewsSammi passed over the bridge on Monday December 13th. I did want to add a little story to go with it though, I thought you would certainly appreciate it. The picture that is included with this email is Sammi sitting and listening for the big boomers to come. Sam loved thunder and lighting storms. He would go on high alert as soon as the rain would start, that was the early advancing troops as far as he was concerned and would run up and down the walk way chasing and sniffing the rain drops. But as soon as the thunder started he was a very happy man, he would run up and down the door yard, tail up and wagging and head up and grinning. We called them big boomers and all he would have to hear was that and off he was. As he aged and started losing his hearing, he could only pick up on the biggest claps of thunder but in the last year he hasn't been able to hear any of them. Very sad when we would get no reaction from him when the big boomers came.

On the night that he went over the bridge we exited the vets office and almost immediately were met with a big bolt of lightening and a tremendous clap of thunder, we looked at each other and said "Sammi arrived over the bridge" When do we ever get thunder and lightening storms in December. I know the boy heard that one.

Thank you for choosing him for us all those years ago, and thank you from a whole lot of other people that took great joy in Sammi the entertainer (especially one little girl who the pediatric nurses claim Sam healed with his visitation) and Sammi who was a joy to us and to all who encountered him.

Shiloh

Today (July 11th, 2012) I had to say goodbye to the greatest friend I've ever known. Since I was seven years old he always knew the best way to cheer me up, make me laugh, or just be there for company when I was down. Whenever I was sad or sick, he would sit right at my side, and wouldn't leave until I was better. He was the most beautiful creature I've ever met, inside and out, and anyone who's ever met him would

know that that is the truth.

He was the best pillow, the best dance partner, the best clown and my best friend. I don't know what to do without him.

Shiloh, I love you to the moon and back, and I'll miss you more than anyone will ever know. I'll never forget about you, and I'll see you again one day. I love you forever. - Your sissy, Tara
